SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (July 18, 2006) — David Robertson, executive director of the Association of Finance and Insurance Professionals, served as a guest professor at the Automotive Dealership Institute on Monday, July 17. Robertson arrived at ADI to personally teach an AFIP Certification review course, a part of ADI’s Finance & Insurance Management program for 17 ADI students.

The Automotive Dealership Institute signed an agreement with AFIP in February to encompass a broad range of joint F&I training projects. Since then, Robertson has personally mentored ADI Dean of Education Arzu Algan to conduct review sessions and AFIP Certification tests, and enabling her to become an AFIP Certified faculty member. The AFIP Certification Program consists of college-level courses focusing on the federal and state regulations unique to the F&I trade, and features an ethics module jointly developed with the Walsh Institute for Ethical Behavior. The courses are designed to give F&I practitioners and the lenders and vendors that support the F&I trade the legal and ethical guidelines they need to make more money doing their job within the confines of the law. AFIP Certification is the MBA of the F&I trade - recommended by the National Automobile Dealers Association and supported by select Automobile Trade Association Executives.

“With in excess of 13,000 people AFIP Certified, it is obvious that a wide range of preparation methods will generate the required results,” said Robertson. “However, when presented in a classroom setting as an element of a comprehensive F&I education curriculum, the students’ command of the material extends beyond the level of knowledge measured by the final exam. ADI’s Automotive Finance Management course represents the optimal AFIP Certification preparation.”

Said Arzu Algan: “Having such a luminary as David Robertson teach the AFIP review course at ADI was a special honor. He has earned the respect of the entire automotive community, and we are honored to have someone of his caliber serve as a guest professor.”

AFIP Certification means that ADI graduates will reap a number of positive benefits, both in their search for employment and on the job.
